Our Story

Richard and Melissa met whilst workers as nurses in a previous life. They made the massive decision to change their careers and become strawberry growers. Starting 17 years ago with 150,000 plants, they have now grown their business to 5 million plants and 700 workers yearly - One of the biggest and most innovative farms in the area.

They brought their people skills and knowledge of corporate structures to the strawberry business and see this as one of the keys to their success. Richard and Melissa enjoy traveling and exploring beyond their farm gate to educate themselves on innovative ways of farming and running the business.

Queensland Berries have long term workers that have grown with the business. They have many stories of workers who have progressed their careers while working on this farm. Starting off as pickers or packers and moving into junior then senior leadership roles.

What is it like to work with us?

I lost my job due to COVID-19 and ended up working at Queensland Berries. I enjoy the variety of work, it's not the same thing every day. There's hours available and it's not that hard. You just need to put in, show initiative.

It's a beautiful farm, we enjoy working with Queensland Berries, we're gaining new experiences from irrigation and planting which we'd never done before.

I like working on a strawberry farm, it's my first time working on a strawberry farm but we have a nice experience here. I've been able to join the local football team at Bribie Island which has been a lot of fun.

Our team members work 6 days a week with one day off

We try to work a 6-8hr day and you have the opportunity to roster days or time off

The pickers will start around 7am and the pack house around 10am

We don’t like to run all hours of the day or night, we know that’s not how we get the best out of our staff

We have on-farm and off-site accommodation. We can also recommend other accommodation facilities in the area

It’s best to have your own transport available.

Our company is Sedex approved so our staff have piece of mind that they are working for an Ethical Employer that is recognised and audited by an internationally recognised body.

Our Driscolls strawberry genetics produce high volumes of fruit at the very start of our season. Our other berry categories compliment our strawberry production; providing our staff employment, 12 months of the year.
