It’s incredible the appreciation we get from people, they come to visit our farm and see the hard work we put in.

Our Story

Debbie and Michael have been growing strawberries on this farm since 2003. Michael has been growing strawberries for over 19 years and they also have a successful seedling nursery which Debbie has been running since 1988. Proud of the quality they produce, 75% of their fruit is sold face to face in Bundaberg.

A fantastic partnership, they like to keep themselves busy and always have a project on the go. Whether it's growing avocado and citrus trees, rhubarb and garlic or building a new packing shed. Never afraid of a chat, you’ll find Debbie at their farm stall in Bagara selling their fresh fruit and jams to the locals 6 days a week.

Also not shy of a challenge, Michael was impressively the 6th person in Australia to complete 10 Iron Man Triathlons. As well as having love for their new kittens, Milky, Splash and Whitey. Michael & Debbie have big hearts as they love teaching their 15 grandchildren about Australian strawberries too.

What is it like to work with us?

ElisaWorking Holiday Maker

I am an English working holiday maker and I got the pleasure to work at the Bargara Berries with Mick, Debbie, Josh and Nannny Pam. It was an amazing two months getting to learn about cultivating strawberries. Each member of the family are so dedicated and passionate about the farm and work extremely hard to make it as successful and wonderful as it is today.

Whilst being in Bundaberg I had worked various picking jobs and nothing compared to how well I was treated and respected at the Ambrosia plantation. The family really welcomed each employee into the family and looked after us.

I’ve also never seen or tasted such amazing and huge strawberries, the quality really is top tier. I would definitely recommend working at this farm to everyone! You do have to work hard but you will have a great time!

We start at 7am, typically 6 days a week

Although we don’t have any accommodation on site, there are plenty of backpacker hostels in Barara and Bundaberg

Working with us works best for those who have their own transport

We have a newly built pack house with break area and picnic benches.

As a small multi-crop farm, we can offer you variety in the work you do – not just picking and packing strawberries.

Our strawberry season is May – Oct
